Through this internship, I was able to experience the culture and language of Uganda while also helping the under served communities there. One aspect of the internship I really enjoyed was that we constantly interacted with the community and our supervisor, Maurine, was very helpful in keeping us in the loop and making sure we understood the community. As I transition from this internship, some of the skills that I will carry over to my personal and professional life include how to effectively address communities who come from different backgrounds and how to identify the important needs of communities and address them appropriately. Although I might not be pursuing a career in international development immediately after I graduate, it will always remain an important factor in all my life decisions.
